How to maintain solid wood furniture and flooring

After installation, solid wood floor should be balanced at least 24 hours before using, otherwise it will affect the performance of solid wood flooring. Solid wood flooring is generally poor water resistant, and shouldn’t be wiped with damp cloth or water in order to keep the gloss. As to daily maintenance, you can follow instructions below:
In daily use, avoid being scraped by sharp metals, glass, ceramic, spikes and other hard objects; do not drag on the floor surface when moving furniture; do not make floor contact with open flame or place high power heating device directly on the floor; do not place strong acid and strong alkaline substances directly on the floor; avoid long-time soaking.

If outdoor humidity is greater than indoor’s, you can shut the doors and windows to keep low indoor humidity. If outdoor humidity is small than indoor’s, you can open the doors and windows to reduce indoor humidity. In hot and humid weather, you can use air conditioning or electric fan to balance humidity.

The humidity in the room shouldn’t be too big. To keep floor dry and clean, you can use no-dripping cotton mop in daily cleaning. In case of stubborn stains you can use a mild detergent to clean and then wipe with a clean wrung cotton mop. Do not use acid, alkaline solvents, gasoline or other organic solvents to clean the floor.

In order to keep the beauty of floor and extend the endurance of the coating, waxing maintenance twice a year is recommended. Before waxing, clean and wipe the floor first, then evenly spread a layer of floor wax on the surface, then wipe with a soft cloth when wax is slightly dry until floor is smooth and shiny.

If a large area of floor is accidentally flooded, or just parts of it are soaked for a long time, if there remains any water, you should use dry cloth to absorb water and let it dry naturally. Do not use electric heater or expose the floor in the strong sunlight.

Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or rapid temperature changes should be avoided, since they may cause early aging of wood floor coating.

After installation, if the room is not resided right now, you need to keep air circulation, and do not cover the floor with plastic sheet or newspaper for a long time, in case coating became sticky and dull.

Regularly clean and vacuum floor, preventing sand or dust accumulation scratching floor surface. A doormat can be placed at the door to avoid sand and abrasive dust into the room. Dry cotton mop can be used in daily cleaning. Do not use a wet mop or corrosive liquids (such as soapy water, gasoline) to wipe floor. In autumn and winter, a humidifier can be used to keep indoor humidity at 50% to 70%. When moving furniture, do not drag it directly on floor, you should lift and move it with care. Frequently moved furniture should be covered a layer of rubber on the bottom.

Approaches for special stains: oil, paint and ink stains can be wiped with special scouring oil; blood, fruit juice, wine, beer and other stains can be wiped with wet cloth, or cloth dipped with an appropriate amount of detergent. Do not clean wood floor with strong acid or alkaline liquids.
